IT Know-how

Our data centre

Since October 2008 dbh has a data centre which leaves nothing to be desired. In terms of efficiency as well as security it meets the highest standards.

Services

About 3500 users regularly access the applications and data bases in our data centre. Ten administrators are responsible round-the-clock for ensuring that the software remains up-to-date at all times and the use of dbh offers is possible without any problems.

Capacity

The new data centre offers space for 24 data cabinets. At the moment there are about 200 physical servers which are subdivided into other virtual servers. A Storage area Network (SAN) accessed by all servers now offers an almost unlimited upgradable memory. The spectrum of operating systems and database systems contains everything of distinction in the IT world: Windows, Linux, Unix and BS2000 are used just as much as Versant, Oracle, SQL and SESAME.

Security

Security and availability of the data are, of course, the highest priority at dbh. Therefore, numerous measures have been taken to guarantee this at the highest level. A multi-redundant energy supply system - including its own generator - for example ensures that customers in the public net do not even notice power failures. Extensive measures have also been taken with regard to fire, water, burglary, surge and various other potential threats.

In the classification system of the American Uptime Institute dbh is now classified in the challenging "TIER III" segment.

To backup the IT service management dbh observes the specifications of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and the best practices of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) in the meantime internationally considered the de facto standard. Imbedded in a company-wide IT security policy, the claim for the desired security standard is supported by all employees.

"Green IT"

Our data centre also meets the demands of "Green IT" thus making a contribution to environment protection. For example, a virtue was made out of necessity and the often cold North German air was used for cooling the equipment, relieving the air-conditioning. Energy-optimised servers in connection with virtual functions also ensure clearly better utilisation and at the same time lower space and energy consumption.

Your data is in the best of hands in our data centre.
