CODIS - The central and neutral communication platform for the rail transport
CODIS is the central and neutral communication platform for the rail-bound goods traffic at the Bremen ports. The current version exclusively operates rail-bound container traffic; however, other stages of development are already being implemented. In Bremerhaven the container terminals have been provided by Eurogate, MSC and NTB exclusively via CODIS since July 2008. The requirement's planning is carried out by DB Schenker.
Presently the CODIS system (Central Organising, Dispatching and Information System) consists of the modules order management and requirements planning. It is used by all operators and sales companies working in Bremerhaven. In addition, CODIS is intended to be used in the new JadeWeserPort of Wilhelmshaven.
Your Contact person for CODIS is Birte Ollerdissen.
Order management
The module order management offers web-based information and management functions for clients, operators, traffic managers and sales companies. You can release your orders to requirements planning as well as check the order status and container status. The display can be configured according to the requirements of individual users. For private rail traffic companies and their customers there is the possibility of capturing shipping orders.
Planning data for import and export is provided to the cargo handling companies via the information and registration at port functions. The export function allows the tracking of export containers from receipt of the container advance reservation or registration at port for the reception railway station Bremerhaven Nordhafen up to the point of shipping. These functions are accessible for everyone involved in the rail transport.
Requirements planning
For the first time, CODIS offers users the possibility of obtaining all necessary information from a single source. A graphic surface provides an improved overview and is also easy to use: Containers can be transferred, for example, to the carriages simply using the mouse. The rules for loading are deposited in the system so that errors are practically excluded. For example, the loading of a carriage with too heavy or too long containers is prevented and indicated as an error.
No installation necessarily
dbh provides CODIS via a secure Internet access with all functionalities, so that users do not need to install any software on their servers. The software is automatically updated with every dial-in. Interfaces can be still used for other software solutions, so that a problem-free data exchange within a company remains possible.
CODIS offers more efficient handling of rail transports and allows the hand-over of containers to requirements planning to be carried out entirely electronically. The application can be operated intuitively therefore requiring only a short training period.
