The “app revolution” has also captured the logistics industry. Many software manufacturers will be at this year’s transport logistic (Munich, 4-7 June 2013) Applications for smartphones and tablets that will provide even better processes and ease of use in the future. One of them is CARGO ONLINE Software GmbH (CARGO ONLINE), which will be appearing at the fair together with the parent company dbh Logistics IT AG (dbh).

What began with the establishment of corporate websites in the 1990s, and continued through the first browser-based applications to the use of web services in the last decade, finds its current climax in the “app”, the mobile application for smartphones and tablet PCs. Maximum independence coupled with ease of use at a low price are convincing arguments that prevent the next digital revolution from stopping any industry. In transport management, apps help to create more cost-effectiveness and transparency in the logistics chain – especially when the mobile solutions are integrated into existing processes.

Position without manual input by the driver

The CARGO ONLINE smartphone app for export presentation at airports promises just that. This should make the process much easier, especially for drivers. Instead of making manual entries, drivers scan the QR code on the manifest. Then the data only has to be confirmed at the push of a button. The application takes all further steps.

The individual processing steps that are carried out by CARGO ONLINE as forwarding software on the one hand and the ATLAScustoms system on the other (error, status, control, approval, etc.) are automatically reported to the app. The driver receives a so-called “push notification”, i.e. an active notification (acoustic and optical) about each step. Finally, the app reports the customs clearance and the unloading of the goods can begin.

Freight forwarding solution for all transport users

Efficient processes, flexible room for manoeuvre, comprehensible communication processes – implemented with a software that focuses on sustainability and offers a high level of investment security. This is offered by the freight forwarding software CARGO ONLINE. Modules for sea, air, land and even warehouses enable processes tailored to the modes of transport. In addition to general order processing, additional modules are optionally available, for example for customs clearance or sanction edits checking, as well as interfaces to common accounting systems.
