CYBER SECURITY dbh DISCUSSES THE ISSUE AT GERMAN FOREIGN TRADE DAY 2016

The 11th German Foreign Trade Day took place in Bremen on 19 April 2016 under the patronage of Sigmar Gabriel, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy. The themes of this year's event were data and data network security, supply chain management, and export financing and insurance, as well as how to deal with political export restrictions — all under the maxim of "Global, digital, free — designing foreign trade in the 21st century".

dbh Logistics IT AG (dbh), as an expert on the subject, was invited to attend a fireside chat on cyber security and data protection in international business at the event. Rudolf Klassen, Vice President IT Services at dbh, spoke to other specialists about issues such as how companies can protect their data and which security standards need to be observed when doing so. They also discussed how different intercontinental data protection philosophies can be harmonised — particularly when it comes to protecting personal data.

DIGITALISATION — A CHALLENGE AND OPPORTUNITY FOR INDUSTRY 4.0

For Rudolf Klassen, these discussions were a great opportunity to raise awareness of his topic among participants at the event. "We were able open the attendees' eyes in many respects, and even sparked a light-bulb moment for a few of them," says Klassen. "With respect to the upcoming EU General Data Protection Regulation alone, which will replace the currently applicable German Federal Data Protection Act in many areas."

The 11th German Foreign Trade Day in Bremen showed that digitalisation in the form of cloud services is essential for international companies. Both a challenge and an opportunity, it paves the way for Industry 4.0.
