For over 40 years, communication in the ports of Bremen has been processed by the Bremer Hafentelematik (BHT) platform from dbh Logistics IT AG (dbh). For JadeWeserPort in Wilhelmshaven, the Wilhelmshaven Telematik (WHT) platform was developed based on the BHT. In June 2013, another system was added to the mix in preparation for the current BHT/WHT 2.0: OSIS. OSIS stands for open system integration server. The converter system from dbh takes care of communication with internal systems and with external customer and partner systems.

The functionalities of BHT/WHT 2.0 focus on the technical processing of the incoming data. OSIS, meanwhile, handles the receipt of outgoing messages and the actual distribution of the data. Thanks to the interplay between BHT/WHT 2.0 and OSIS, various different external formats can be converted to internal standard formats — and then back again. The individual requirements are taken into account both when data comes in and goes out. This makes data processing flows more reliable, more secure and fully traceable.

The number of messages processed demonstrates just how well the two dbh systems work together. Between June 2013 and February 2016, OSIS processed and transferred 100 million messages! That is an average of just under 100,000 messages a day. Across all dbh port applications, OSIS actually processes around 250,000 messages every day — and this figure is increasing all the time.
