Mandatory from the end of 2014: electronic container handling at Maasvlakte II

23. Jul 2014 | ALPO, Port Community Systems, Port management

What has long been standard in German seaports will also become mandatory at the end of 2014 for the new terminals on the Maasvlakte II of Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) and APM Terminals Maasvlakte II (APM Terminals MVII): the paperless registration of import and export containers before collection or delivery. All port orders must therefore be sent to the Port Community System (PCS) of the Dutch company Portbase.

Only access: electronic registration of containers

As with dbh’s port communication system in the Bremish ports and at the JadeWeserPort, all processes are handled electronically and thus faster and more transparently via this PCS. Without the electronic connection to Portbase, no container can be imported and/or exported in the future; this applies to all types of delivery and collection, whether by train, truck or barge. For those who want to log in a container, this means that they must register in advance with Portbase to send port orders.

Easy connection with dbh

With the application ALPO (Advantage Local Port Order), as a central platform for handling port orders, dbh Logistics IT AG (dbh) offers a market-established solution to communicate quickly and securely with Portbase. Thanks to interfaces to other dbh applications, port orders can also be generated from the customs software Advantage Customs and the cargo ONLINE transport management system. This applies not only to the Maasvlakte II, but also to all other terminals in Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

For more information, please contact the dbh sales team at sales@dbh.de. Please note that Portbase has been charging a fee for connection to the system since 1 July 2014.
