Together with us, this traditional family business is venturing out to sea. With Fiduz as a new transport management system, the shipping company aims to succeed in expanding into ocean freight.

Herbert Voigt GmbH & Co. KG is a family-run company in the logistics industry. With over 500 employees and a fleet of more than 100 vehicles, the shipping company offers its customers comprehensive solutions in the areas of transport, warehousing, and customs clearance.

Tradition and innovation are central to the company: Since its founding in 1933, Herbert Voigt GmbH & Co. KG has ensured efficient and reliable transportation. Despite its long history, the logistics company remains open to progress and its own expansion. Today, according to Silke Ihloff, Team Leader Import/Export/Customs, it is “networked with the whole world” and relies on sustainability and innovation. An example of this is the integration of hydrogen trucks as well as the continuous increase in the share of vehicles with alternative fuels such as electric and biodiesel.

Another forward-looking step was to be the expansion of the company’s expertise in ocean freight. In doing so, the Schleswig-Holstein-based company faced the challenge of integrating and implementing a new transport management system (TMS). At this point, the shipping company became aware of Fiduz as a possible solution.

The previously used systems required duplicate and error-prone data entry of orders in different programs as well as manual management of Excel lists, which consumed both much time and valuable resources. Additionally, the coordination of container returns was not sufficiently automated. There was a lack of optimized digital document storage that ensured complete traceability.

A solution was needed that would increase clarity in order management, make billing more precise, and make the entire documentation more transparent and accessible. The goal was to increase productivity and minimize sources of error in order to noticeably improve daily operations.

The solution was also to enable seamless integration of the new TMS with the existing Advantage Customs by dbh. Additionally, it was to provide an interface to Navision, an application that has since been integrated into MS Dynamics 365, for connection to accounting.

It quickly became apparent through targeted consultation and a solution-oriented on-site presentation that we were offering the perfectly tailored application for the shipping company with Fiduz. The collaboration had already been successful in the areas of customs and compliance through the use of Advantage Customs, which was now to be expanded in transport management.

The application convinced the representatives of Herbert Voigt GmbH & Co. KG with its user-friendly interface and adaptability to the company’s specific requirements. The connection to Advantage Customs also provides a well-networked digital infrastructure.

The integration of Advantage Customs in Fiduz and the resulting benefits are among the strengths of the application. This connection enables practical functions such as receiving tax notices in the Fiduz e-file or status information in the customs clearance workflow. The company also sees an advantage in the option of recording costs for monthly and annual closing statements, and the delegation solution for vacation or sick leave through the configured task structure is an additional relief. With the clear overview of the folder structure, all orders can now be easily and quickly recorded and processed.

After joint planning, implementation of the new system began with a short test phase, followed by execution in live operation. After approximately four to five months of use, minor optimizations were made to further improve the processes. From the start, the creation of ocean freight orders functioned smoothly, allowing the company to continue unimpeded in its expansion into the ocean freight sector with our Fiduz solution.

Our experts also intensively addressed minor challenges even after the initial implementation. Work continued for the logistics company on adapting master data and implementing the company logo in order processing. Through these ongoing developments, we succeeded in continuously adapting Fiduz to the needs of its users.

»Careful planning is essential for the import and export of goods. Thanks to our IT logistics provider dbh and our trained employees, we keep our customers always informed about changes in customs and foreign trade law.«

The introduction of Fiduz has noticeably increased efficiency in order processing and enabled expansion into ocean freight. Today, all employees at Herbert Voigt GmbH & Co. KG can immediately answer customer inquiries and quickly and easily retrieve the corresponding order by simply entering a reference or container number. This particularly increases customer satisfaction, because “clear communication with suppliers and customers is standard practice for Voigt Logistics,” emphasizes Silke Ihloff.

Fiduz simplifies all processes in the company’s daily operations and thus offers significant technical and commercial benefits. The application handles many important work steps and enables its users to focus on new goals and optimize their own work.

We are pleased that we were able to support Herbert Voigt GmbH & Co. KG in their next step of continuous expansion after many years of collaboration. In the future, we will continue to grow through close cooperation with our customers.

The next step in our joint development will be the modernized Fiduz release, which will soon make working life easier for all users once again. Interested companies can, for example at the upcoming transport logistic in Munich, be informed in person by our experts about this next important step in modernizing transport management.
